हास तुर्क कभी प्रियतम के प्रतीक थे। फारसी में तुर्क' का मतलब ही माशूक हो गया । तुर्क मगबच्चों से कठोर थे। मगबच्चे अधिकतर 'साक़ी' थे तो तुर्क 'कातिल'। तुर्की से प्रेम तो जाता रहा, किंतु उनकी कठोरता आज भी बनी है। तुर्क अाज कमाल-परस्त हैं, पीर या बुतपरस्त नहीं। उनके विचार में कुरान, काबा, रसूल आदि की परम्ती भी मुल्क परस्ती से खाली नहीं। इनमें उन्हें कुछ मतलब नहीं । विचारशील नुकों का कहना है कि इसलाम कभी अरब के लिये उत्तम था, आज भी (१) शिअरुल अजम, बिल्द चहारुम, पृ० १९० । (२) प्रसिद्ध तुकी पत्रिका 'इजत्तिहाद' के संपादक डाक्टर अन्दुला जेवदेत वे का कथन है....
