वीरों को अपने घर के सामने से निकलकर अन्य लोकों को जाते देख मेनका बड़ी निराश हुई ( रू० ६० ) · रंभा ने मेनका को यह कहकर प्रबोधा कि ये बीर हमारे लिये बहुत बड़े हैं और तुम्हारा प्रिय इन्द्राणी द्वारा वरण किया जा चुका है ( रू० ६१ ) । संभवत: मेनका, वीर योद्धा भीम रघुवंशी को वरण करना चाहती थी जिसे इन्द्राणी या गई ( छं० १३३, रू० ८६ )। (२) कर्नल टॉड (Colonel Tod) ने रू० १० और ११ का अंग्रेज़ी में इस प्रकार अनुवाद किया है । "The Apsaràs invain searched every part of the field. Rambhà asked Menaka, "Why thus sad today? "This day' said she I expected guests. I descended in my chariot. The field have I searched, but he whom my soul desires, is not to be found: therefore, am I sad! chiefs, mighty warriors, strew the ground, who condnered victory at every step ! My feet are weary in trac. ing the paths in which fell the brave; but him whom I seek, I cannot find. 'Listen, Oh sister,' said Rambhà, 'he who never bowed the head to a foe, will not be found in this field. To convey hence the pure flame, the chariot of the planets descended. He even avoided the heaven of Brahma and of Siva: his flame, has gone to be united to the Sun, to be worship I by Indràni. On earth he will know no second birth.
