PADE MÄWATE 11 with him, and brought him (as a disciple) to Saiyad Raji Hamid Shāh. om him (Muhin-d-din) did I win all my (good) deeds. My tongue was wened, and, a poet, (I learned to) tell my tale 15 He was my master and I his disciple, evermore do I bow before him Iris slave. Through him did I obtain a sight of the Creator. c), the founder of the second or Kayanian dynasty of the kings of Persin, and ninth cont before the Darius, who was conquered by Alexander. In the text, all that want is that Khwaja Khine appeared to Daniyal, and performed his customnry office enido. La neovered The following account of Malik Muhammad's spiritual ancestors is taken partly what the poet himself tells us, and partly from the Urdū gloss and other sources He belonged to the Ciskhiya Nizamiya, that is to say he belonged to the spiritual ont which took its name from the celebrated Nina-d-din Anliyi, the teacher of Khusro, who died about 1325 A. D. His disciple was Sirija-d-din, whose disciple Shaikh 'Aliul-haqq 'Alia-baqa's son and disciple Shaikh Nur Qutb 'Alam, the dot whose death is usually given us 1441 A.D. Chronologists, however, vary as to this: we say A. H. 808, B, A. D 1405, others A. H. 813, A, A.D. 1410, others A. H.815, A.D. 1415, others A. H. 548, ... A.D. 1445, and others again A. 11. 851, f. 4. D. Mr Beveridge in J. A. S. B. lxiv, Pt. I, 207, considers A. H. 618, A. D 1415, as the date. He lived at Panda in Muldah, and another disciple was Saiyad Ashraf Jahangir 18.1.) Ashraf's most famous disciple was Shaikh Haji, whose disciples were Shaikh Dirk, and Shaikh Kamil. Shaikh Nur Qutb Alam and Saiyad Ashraf Jahingir fellow disciples (pir bhuai) and from them eighth in descent came Malik Muhammad 1540 A.D.) The full genealogical table is as follows: Nima-d-din (d. 1325 A. D.) Sirajuddin Shaikh Aliul-haq. Shrikh Nur Qutb Alam of Pandui, and Saiyad Ashraf Jahingir (ride xviii, 1), (son of prodiug. 1 Shaikh Hashima-d-din of Manikpar. Shaikh Haji. Saiyad Raji Hamid Shin. Shaikh Mubarak and Shaikh Daniyal (d. 1486 A. D.). Shaikh Kamil Saiyad Muhammad. Shaikh Athadid. Shaikh Burhan. Saiyad Muhuddin (ride xx, 1). Malik Mubammad (1680 A.D.) From this it follows that the poet was not an actual disciple of Saiyad Ashmi tingir, ss might be assumed from xviii, 1 and ff. Malik Mubammad merely refers to and praises him as his spiritual ancestor. A tradition makes him the poet's mantra while Maia-d-din was his ridya-guru, ie, the ons initiated him, and the other sitht him, which agrees with Malik Muhammad's own langunge. Shaikh Dariyal, the bib in the line before the port, appears to have claimed to have had for a friend Kaja Khitr, who introduced him to his preceptor, Saiyad Raji Himid Shah. Shaikh Tin, Malik Muhammad's spiritual grandfather resided at Kal'pi in Bandēl'khand, and is to have died at 100 years of age in A. H. 970, or A.D. 1562-63. See Rep. Arch. Sind xxi, 131
