Descartes on Self-Consciousness. हमार The objective world. - हम हमार के बीच That which exists between the self and the objective world: (1) Metaphy- sically, God, cf. Ramdas 'ब्रह्म पदार्थ ऐलीकडे । अलख करें घेतां वस्तुलागी । आडवें ब्रह्म ॥ दासबोध VII, 4. ( 2 ) epistemologically, subject object relation. Unperceivable. - - अलखे का लखै This in the opinion of some critics seems to be a tirade of Tulsidas against Gora- kshaites who tried to perceive the unperceivable. On the other hand it seems also to be a tirade against Kabir himself of Kabir's Doha : 'अलख पुरुष निर्वाण है । ...वाको तो वो ही लखै - ॥ Note : As we have had occasion hitherto, in his different Padas and Dohas to study the opinious of Tulsidas on the subject of the relation between सगुण, निर्गुण, नाम and रूप, let us now summarise the salient points in the total teaching of Tulsidas on this head:- · 1. The superiority of सगुण to निर्गुण निर्गुण is comprehensible, सगुण is not. निर्गुण रूप सुलभ अति सगुण न जानहिं कोइ । " 6
