CRITICAL NOTES. 1. 2. Ktnhesi, 80 apparently lb, which seems to vocalize the final y». The word may, however, be also read Knhisa for kinhesa. The other copies in the Persian character Bimply have ^r g' ■ ^ which which may be read either Tdnhesi, klnhasa, or Iclnluisa. Is and K have kinhei}i for klnhesi. V has klnhasa. Throughout the poem a short e is inserted to form the past tense. Thus dekhasi, he sees 5 dekhesi, he saw. la tinhahi priti kabilasii, Ibo parahata kabililsil, Id parabata kaildsH, Is tehi prlti ka bilasii, V tiki parabata ka bilasu. In the Persian character 0>J^ and OJ^A and ym^^ti and j^ilLi" are easily confused. In each case it is a question of a dot. There can be no doubt about the form Icabilasu tor kail asli being right. The word is of frequent occurrence in the poem and is invariably spelt thus in the best MSS. It is a curious corruption, and has puzzled all copyists with Sanskrit predilections. 3. lb has pawana agini, K agni paitna, Is bahutai, UK bahute, P give no clue. 4.
