६३४ भारत में अंगरेजी राज पत्र व्यवहार हो रहा है । इस खिए २ मई को पूना में हमारी शक्ति पहले से अधिक बढ़ी हुई होगी,और हमारे यहाँ सेना ले जाने का एक बड़ा उहश पूरा हो जायगा । यदि अमीर खाँ के विद्रोह के कारण होतकर कमजोर न भी हो सका तो भी कम से कम अमीर खों पर से होलकर का विश्वास कम अवश्य हो जायगा ।" करनल स्टीवेन्सन द्वारा इस सम्बन्ध में अंगरेज़ों और निज़ाम दरबार से बातचीत हो रही थी। दबाव पड़ने पर निज़ाम ने अमीर खाँ को ३००० सवारों सहित अपने यहाँ नौकर रखना स्वीकार कर लिया। किन्तु अमीर खाँ के सवारों की संख्या बहुत अधिक थी। ३ मई सन् १८०३ को जनरल वेल्सली ने हैदराबाद के रेज़िडेण्ट मेजर कर्कपैट्रिक को लिखा कि-xxx “मैं यह सिफारिश किए बिना नहीं रह सकता कि अमीर खाँ के साथ चाहे कितने भी सवार हो, निज़ाम को उन्हें ज़रूर अपने यहाँ नौकर रख लेना चाहिए !x x x"* इसी पत्र के इससे ऊपर के Hattanesed by ten" • "Meer Khan (Amir Khan!), Holkar's Sirdar, in command of his largest detachment, stull keeps open his negotiation with the Nizam to enter His Highness' service, on the 2nd of May, therefore, we shall be in greater strength than ever at Poona, and have attained one great object of our expedition, and, if Holkar should not be weakened by the detection of Meer Khan, at least his confidence in that chief must be shaken "--Major General Wellesley's letter to Lieut General Stuart dated 28th April, 1803 when I am considering the means of detending His Highness' long line of frontier from the plunder of a light body of horse, I can not refran from recommending that, whatever may be Meer Khan's numbers, His Highness should take them into pay "-General Wellesley's letter to Major Kirkpatric, Resident at Hyderabad, dated 3rd May, 1808
