(१) डाक्टर रुडाल्फ हार्नली ने १० दिसंबर, १९०३ के पत्र में मुझे लिखा था-
"The last mail brought me a copy of your annual report, on the search of Hindi manuscripts for the year 1900, and I may write to congratulate you heartily on its successful and scholarly production.
“Your discussion of the case of the Prithviraj Raso interested me particularly, also the documents in the appendix. I do hope it may soon be possible to publish a complete edition of the epic. Of course the real desideratum would be a critical edition; but even & mere reprint of the old manuscript (No. 68 of Samrat 1640) would be of much use provided an exhaustive list of all the various readings from all the other existing manuscripts were added. It would then be possible to form a more decided and definite opinion of the genuineness of the work. That it must be genuine substantially, your remarks sufficiently show. But one would like to know two points, (1) how much there is of interpolation and comparatively (unhistorical) addition and (2) how far the language has retained its original character or has been modernised.
