घटनाएँ बहुत ही महत्त्वपूर्ण होती हैं। पहली घटना उसका जन्म-
दिन, दूसरी विवाह-दिन तथा तीसरी मृत्यु-तिथि है । जन्म-दिन
वास्तव में बड़ी ही महत्त्वपूर्ण घटना है, पर विवाह और मृत्यु से
उसके भाग्य पर जैसी मोहर बैठती है, वैसी और किसी घटना से
नहीं । विवाह में केवल उन्हीं दो व्यक्तियों का आनंद नहीं लिपटा
है, जो विवाह-सूत्र में बद्ध हुए हैं, वरन् कम-से-कम किसी हद तक
तो बहुत-से संबंधियों के आनंद और सुविधाओं पर भी प्रभाव पड़ता
है । इतना ही क्यों, अब तक अनुत्पन्न भविष्य की एक पीढ़ी का भाग्य
और आनंद भी इसी घटना पर अवलंबित है।"......
"विवाह के बाद पुरुष की जीवन-यात्रा केवल अपने लिये नहीं
है, वरन अपनी स्त्री और बच्चों के लिये अथवा व्यापक अर्थ में यों
कहिए कि जाति-हित की दृष्टि से अपने उत्तराधिकारियों के लिये

destiny as no other events could possibly do. Marriage
not only envolves the happiness of those who enter
upon this sacred contract but, at least to some extent
it affects the happiness and comfort of a large circle of
relatives and envolves the happiness and destiny of a
generation yet unborn.
